Injuries have struck both clubs to key players. Sam Simpson was added to the injury list this week for 2-3 weeks for a hamstring which is a big blow. Played his best game against Swans.

I listened to a 91.3fm podcast interview with German and he said after playing well in the reserves last game against Swans, Schlensog is probably still a week or two away. Does the bye count as a week? I think he has to come in against EP.

EP are still without Schumacher for another week I think under concussion protocols. Robertson is listed as Hamstring TBC.

Anyway teams should be out tonight I think given it's a Thursday game. Hopefully it's a big crowd with a few neutrals coming along.

You may not like it, DD, but if you are going to reward good form in the reserves, Gray has been by far the standout mid. He can be used to tag Brayshaw or Crowden. I'm happy to be conservative with Schlensog. EP's strength is very much their midfield, so missing a KPP is not as critical as it might be against some other teams. Hopefully Chaplin can bounce back from his quiet game v SD. 

German mentioned Ryan Newick as best player in the reserves when talking about depth. No mention of Gray by German.

Well quite a few changes. Two of the big name recruits Simpson and A. Clarke are out. We knew Simpson was injured so must Clarke. Schlensog named as one of about 8 interchange. Surely he plays. Ajang also named on the bench and Ryan Newick named in the starting line-up in the following division so looks like he will make his league debut.

Riley Wills also named in the two's. Sorry ted your man Gray not named on an extended bench but named in the magoo's.

I would think that suggests the match committee doesn't rate Gray. Expect to see him at WCER next year. (if they're still in the WAFL) Good luck to Newick,. He's a good size, which we need against EP. For that reason, I wouldn't give Philip (named on extended bench) a game. He really hasn't come on since making his league debut in 2022 and, despite adding a bit of weight, still seems a bit soft to me. Doesn't get enough of the ball, even in reserves. Good to see Riley Wills named in the reserves, we need all the depth we can get. 

No info on Clarke's injury. Poole is also out, after a career best effort v SD. With those 2, plus Della Marta, Avery and Sing, let's hope our season is not derailed by injury again.

Shit I missed that. Bloody hell. Well I'd say Chaplin holds his spot no problem with that. Does AJ come in to assist Edwards against Jones? Newick comes in for Simpson, Schlensog for Poole and probably AJ for Clarke. Schlensog we know his versatility.

Perth Supporters for a long time now haven't expected Perth to win. I don't expect them to win tomorrow. Already two of our BOOM recruits have come up with an injury - have they taken the WAFL lightly like many have with us before? If so - I trust that they will dig deep and do the massive amount of work required to get back for us.

This said we are playing an attractive brand of Footy and like H. Brayshaw said on the WAFL website - we now have strong players on every line.

This ANZAC day game we have with EP is fantastic.  Perth Supporters please do everything you can to get not only yourself along but also a mate or 5. Like I said I don't expect a win (EP along with EF are premiership favourites and we have won two games by a kick) but we are showing signs and we can make this ANZAC day clash against EP our yearly big day.

It is exciting to see Newick and Schlensog debut.

Schlensog has a WAFL history and a great one. Newick along with Hine-Baston, Scoble and Cachard are young - but for the first time in a long while A Grade young. Senior players seem to be looking after them so far and importantly seeming to be enjoying playing with them.

I feel for the players on the verge of selection - AJ, J Clark, Gray, Hayward, Preston-Coates, Phillips, Bodle, Evans, Howard, Watson, Shannon and the Hall brothers

Big clubs have somehow kept these players happy in the past - there is a lot happening at Perth - maybe this time we can keep our strong players together.
