Great win by the boys. Usual suspects played well but we have a new star in the wings, Scaife set the place alight in the first qtr booting 3 and had a direct hand in 2 others. Bevan played his best game and young Julian was good. Johnson didn't play after 1/2 time so looks like he won't suit up next week, Sala said there were a few injuries but players played on. Onto $ubi next week, should be a good game.

Back from my little sojourn and nice to come back to a 2-0 start.Have managed to catch up with the replays and a couple of good performances from the boys. The CL game was a fluctuating performance but as Whinnen said heart got us over the line. When you play for your mates and the jumper you can achieve anything.
The P game was different in that we flexed our muscles from the start and then controlled it from that point on.That’s not to say P weren’t in it - we just had slightly more experience in some areas.I’m sure the P boys would be disappointed with the score line but they shouldn’t be with the effort. They were coming off an emotional victory the week before so maybe they had a hangover from that which might explain the slow start.I’ll leave that to the P boys to comment.
Speaking of experience the performances of our young guys - especially Scaife and Bevan - got me thinking about some of the other guys and their level of experience and checking the stats before this game 9 of the players who took the field had only exactly 50 games experience and 17 of those was from Koopah Todd. That has good and bad connotations.Good for the future but bad in that consistency with young players takes time - from game to game but also quarter to quarter. My point is that we can’t expect 2 game players to be world beaters even though they are clearly talented. It’s a marathon not a sprint.
Two quick questions: Who got injured and the prognosis (I know Johnson was one but any others) and where did Riley Sprigg play in the reserves - named at CHB and certainly did not play in the ruck.

Hey mate. From what I'm reading and hope to see on the weekend, you lot should enjoy this Scaife kid while you can as I reckon he's a certainty to go in the midseason draft if he nominated for the preseason but didn't get picked up. Otherwise he's a monty to go next year.

Quite right BC.I was thinking of that as I was watching the replay.Invariably he will go but I hope it isn’t the mid-season as he will likely be just making up numbers in a lesser comp. He’s only played 2 games so he’s not exactly the next Jonathon Brown( although he plays a little like that).Comparisons are odious sometimes and don’t want to put pressure on the kid but from what I hear he has a good head on his shoulders and should make the grade- just hope it starts next year.

2022 Jasper was on the Dockers next generation. They let him go.

Winger was aware that Scaife was in the Dockers NG program but not aware he got dumped - either they thought he was no good (unlikely) or just surplus to requirements.I’m assuming he got told this at the end of last season. So he’s come back to the club, they’ve put time and effort into resources, advice, training and generally making him a better footballer for him to go potentially in a few weeks time? Yes I know that all clubs have a clear picture to make players better and if they get picked to go to AFL good luck to them.My point is that when they canned compensation for draft picks the catch 22 of returning players who got dumped and get in this instance WAFL club support and then get redrafted there is no recognition money wise for the shorter term effort by the clubs to in effect get those players redrafted.I can wear(just) no compensation if kids go from underage straight to AFL clubs but some recognition in the above circumstances in warranted IMO .Who knows Scaife may never be drafted but I may also believe in flying pigs.

Fed, we are likely to have a few significant injuries this coming w/end but won't reveal until finalised. $ubi will be licking their lips over our possible outs and should off set their wretched run with the maggots !

Sorry to hear about those injuries mate.Obviously opportunities for our younger guys who have been doing alright in recent games but experience is always handy.Just checked last week’s team and 16 of the 22 were from either our metro or country zones so well served there.Sounds like that number might be bigger this weekend.
