It's interesting the club announced Monday night that Jason Salecic would take over as League Coach in 2024.Whilst the announcement was not unexpected the timing is the thing. The team now knows definitely that Darren Harris will not be calling the shots in a few weeks time so what effect does that have for the rest of the season?Do they play committed football to send off an icon of the club or do they slacken off knowing a new regime takes over soon?I don't think any player worth their salt would think that  the latter option is a choice but human nature....mm?In any event this plan was put in place even before DH took over last year so it was always coming.Congratulations to JS on his appointment and immeasurable thanks to DH on his amazing service to WPFC.To take the same club to premierships 19 years apart is unheard of and a mark of the man.

This succession plan was always in place when Harro was appointed last year, no surprises here.

Welcome back Whinnen and you're right they did go to shite while you were away. They obviously missed those positive vibes! But the good part is now we can concentrate on getting some games into the next generation.Bevan,Julian Dixon,Robis already in.We have blooded others(Scaife,Sprigg) and there is likely to be a few more before the season ends. The exciting part is there is some real talent there and as long as we are patient with their development we should see them emerge as very good players in the next couple of seasons. It would be nice to get some forwards in the emerging group(possibly Foley,Farrow,Scaife) as we are a bit thin there at the moment but certainly stuff to work with.Incidentally don't get into slanging matches with the likes of RL and others - the poor sods haven't had anything to crow about for a long time so let them have their moment in the sun!

i don't agree with the announcement that sella will be coach next year. what grades does he have. this announcement in the middle of the year is bullshit and its reflected on the field. there will be an abundance of ex afl coaches from the eagles and dockers at the end of the year. 16 premiership players took to the field on Saturday and they played like a bunch of useless hacks. how can a team that won a grand final fall apart and play like like a bunch of armatures out the back of woop woop.

Screemar I know you are disappointed in the team the last few weeks and so you should. The factor of announcing the coach change at the end of the season and the effect on the playing attitude was mentioned in my post to start this thread. It could have gone either way but it seems it didn't stir the players into any positive action. Also it's not as if the players weren't aware of it because as Whinnen said this was mentioned even before Harro coached his first game last year.I really don't mind a succession plan as such - it can work out sometimes(Roos with Longmire at Sydney and again with Goodwin at Melb - sorry to mention the AFL!).You raise the question of whether Sala is the man for the job.We will have to wait and see on that one but it's only fair to give him a chance. After all Valentine didn't have any league coaching experience when he was appointed(albeit he had had a few years in the lower grades) and he worked out well.Sala also has the advantage of having coached some of the new kids coming along so some positives there. The next few weeks will be important for seeing how things develop for the future.

Good points Fed, it will be interesting this Saturday against the WCER as we are playing @ 5pm on a cold Saturday evening and it concerns me we could be even less less motivated in that time slot than the other losses in the past few weeks with much more to play for. Whilst in Italy I listened to the $ubi game on 91.3 and it was like pulling teeth, then in Scotland I listened v Swans and it was again embarrassing, particularly in Blacky's 250th and with Swans 15+ players out, dumbfounding !!!
