I think we played better overall in 2023 than we did in 2022.

Less players going walkabouts through the season and most of players stayed together for the season was a positive.

I think there is something there with the backs and midfield just keep the players together and build around them.  Nurse Tony Notte for another season to break the all time games record.  He truly deserves the honour.   Luke Taylor looked promising and if he doesn't get picked up in the AFL, ready made replacement for Notte when he retires.

The forward line and ruck division needs some serious attention.  We MUST hold onto Tom Edwards in the forward line and sort out the issue with rucks - what's happening with Doc?  Keep Germs and play him in the league.  We can't afford to lose him to another WAFL club and it comes back to bite us.

Unfortunately the club still has cancer within the ranks that is holding back the club from progressing and becoming a top 5 side. Get rid of the cancer and the club will move forward and have a chance to win a premiership again.

Yeah maybe concentrating on the original purpose of why our club was established would be nice for our 90th Anniversary in 2024 rather than becoming a political activist organisation.

Although the league ladder positions of last season to this season may suggest otherwise, Swans seemed to have played better this season than 2022.
Last season saw Swans finish with 770 Ball Disposals Inside 50, 342 scoring shots, averaging 32 Ball Disposals per goal and an Offence rating of 21%
This season sees 801 Disposals Ins 50, 374 scoring shots, averaging 30 Ball Disposals/ goal with an improved offence rating of 23%. Their goal accuracy rate is slightly worse than 2022.
According to various posters on here, there is quite a few current players moving on and not at the club in twenty 23. Which is a shame because Swans have the polish - they just don't apply it sometimes. Hopefully they can keep most of the current team together and further improve next season. From 2015 Swans have generally finished the H & A fixtures in the middle of the league ladder finishing on 40 points last season and twenty 21. Who knows this year if they'd managed to win the close losses?
As they say, the club has next weeks Reserves game to concentrate on.

I think Hodyls and other comments I have heard over the years seem to me the club are over reliant on "luck"..
If we are relying on luck and not good management then we will continue to grace the bottom half of the ladder.
Injuries, umpires, the bounce of the ball, retirements, goal accuracy etc will always be there - it no point raising them year after year.
The club is doomed without major change off field.

Yes I think every sports team could point to many factors that they see as "Bad Luck"
Some organisations use them as excuses to explain poor performance. Others analyse what they are doing, make changes to their way of operating and work harder towards their goals.
From the evidence of the past few years, Swans goal to be consistently challenging for on field success is pretty much empty talk not backed up by results.
I wait in hope to be proved wrong next season but not holding my breath
