Most clubs have long injury lists unfortunately bar Swans who only list 3. The week we saw Schlensog finally made his debut we lost gun recruits Sam Simpson and Aaron Clarke then two minutes into the second qtr we lost Charlie Constable. On the eve of the season opener we lost Jack Avery, our number one defender. It sucks.

Never in my life have I witnessed so many damn injuries. I think it's time the WAFL introduced the sub.  They are allowing 5 interchange in the reserves,  I don't want to see that but I think having a 5th (sub) is warranted. Can be activated for any reason. Anyone agree?

Yes DD I agree. I also believe if once a player is subbed off & an injury occurs ruling that player out for the rest of the game the player subbed off should be able to be subbed back in,it seems ridiculous that a fit player who was playing cant be reactivated if an injury occurs.

Agree with that Butler although AFL teams tended to exploit the medical sub and I think that’s one of the reasons they decided to allow the sub for any reason. Could be controversial if that happens, that team has a narrow win and the player subbed out for injury miraculously gets up and plays the following week.

Wow the Sharkies left that late today
Great pressure kick on the siren.
Terrible umpiring all day that probably favourable to Swans.

Great pressure goal by Jackson McDonald to seal and steal the 4 points for EF....good character shown by the players in that last 10 mins......more than what I showed in that last 10 mins TBH, thinking SD were home n hosed.

When Jansen is your leading goal scorer, you know EF badly need  a focal presence like JMarsh in that forward line......far too many passengers today, some resting on their laurels from 2023 achievements.

Obviously the 4 points were badly needed, but still a shed load more needed from the side......and some tough matches to come. Good to clean sweep all 3 grades today, disappointing for SD considering their 90th celebrations......

Freeze Teakle was painfully unlucky at Port Adelaide.Breaking his arm in his first AFL match.
Given the lack of depth in Afl rucks, atm.Recon hes a chance of another mid season Afl selection.

Well played Sharks. Probably demonstrated today why you will play finals and Swans won't. Showed a lot of ticker to get back in the last 15 minutes even though Swans were clearly the better team to that stage. Its a 4 quarter game though and EF deserve great credit for never giving up.

Called in halfway through the third qtr to remind myself what WAFL football is like without the doof doof blasting after every goal and during the breaks.I thought Swans had it in the bag but EF's experienced players stood up and that kid Jackson McDonald has ice in his veins. Siren went as he was going back to his mark and right in front of the McDonald stand which was about 50-50 with Shark and Swans supporters. I was right behind it and I think the one before that was Teakle from the boundary. Both beauties.

Good to see Lennon Marlin making key plays for the Sharks when the game was up for grabs but EF trailing. Here's a little gift for you Gummy supporters.

Certainly far from a polished display but they didn't give it it away and somehow got the win. Well done Jackson McDonald never looked liked missing. A bit lucky I guess as Swans did faff around a bit - certainly not enough inside 50s for all their possession.
