Good to see Lockyer back in as he adds experience and stability to the back 6.  Based on last week's effort, I think we might struggle against Freo but I'm the eternal optimist so Subi by 10 points.

Cheers BC. I've got my doubts.  Our best players are getting on.  Clark , Mayo, Savigni, Liam H and Foley excepted. Desperately need Taj to get his hammy right.

Good luck to Bartlet. interesting selection.  Kelman and Francheschini will need to get more involved. Only their 2nd game, of course.

Well done boys on the win.....as Ti Em said on the EF thread, a week is a long time in footy. Just goes to show anyone can win in this comp if you bring your A game.. Good to see young ex EF colt Bartlett kick a brace on debut for Subi.

I was surprised by Bartlets contribution. Well done. Big wrap from the coach in the speeches. Maloney and Horse got their premiership teams up the front. I thought, shit we can win this year, too.

Golding, Foley,  and our east freo young ruckman impressed me. Reidy for the dockers was awesome, all the same.

Savigni, fantastic. Clark bog.

It wasn't pretty but you couldn't question the work rate in very trying conditions. I thought we probably should have won by more if we didn't butcher some easy shots at goal and continue to miss targets by hand and foot. I didn't think a 15 point lead at 3/4 time would be enough but to the boy's credit, they worked very hard to get the win.

Better players were Savigni, Dewar and Lockyer down back. Clark, Foley, Kitch and the Motts through the middle with Soks, Mayo and a special mention for Bartlett. This guy is a straight a kick at goal as I've seen for many years and he only needs to get it 3 or 4 times to do some damage.

A special shout out to Kody Eaton who was up against it with Reidy being 10cms and 10kgs bigger but Eaton battled through and although lost the tap stats, did some great work around the ground.

All in all a good win on a tough day physically.

What was evident yesterday was a determination not to deliver the ball predictably long to the forward line only for sokal and borch to get beaten in the air and on the ground. I thought they went short more out of the defence, by hand and foot. It cost them turn overs but stopped Peel getting the ball back quickly. That said peel's defence was  stronger in last year's preliminary.

Golding threw his weight around yesterday.  Made a difference.

I didn't get to the game but watched on 7. Thought it was a really good response to what Peelmantle did to us in both finals last year. Wardmans change of game plan worked well for much of the game and if we persist with that we will get better with the delivery. We ran hard on the overlap which made us move the ball much faster than the snails pace of the Perth game, taking their strong marking backs out of the game for long periods was the key.

The mids did a good job of roving to the Reidy monster, geez he's a massive unit against our guys who are only just 195 and 90 odd kegs. I agree with BC regards Eaton who is improving with each outing, his massive leap helped him at least provide a contest against Reidy. We lost the clearences this week but managed to intercept and re-bound with the short game time and again which Peelmantle failed to counter. Clark was outstanding again, his second half was superb as he ran the game out well in mid 30's heat. Foley, Savigni, Hickmont and Mayo all good contributors and a promising first up effort by Bartlett who looks a very likely prospect, big body, aggressive, fast and a very nice kick. Locks on his return was good despite butchering a few disposals. The report on Gus was pretty tame, the replays showed him trying to change direction as the Peel player moved past, part of that is to take a stride in the players direction which is when they got tangled up, freekick? yes but report no way. Then that blonde dickhead came in and dropped Gus but no reversal, they went on and kicked a goal. Must say that was the only real howler on the day as the Umps weren't noticed much at all.

Joondy 2 and zip after 2 home games in a row and extra time between games, Wardman and his coaching panel will need to manage the players carefully as Joondy will have that valuable extra days rest.

The positive I think you boys can take out of yesterday's win, is that on their day, Subi can win/compete against any team in the comp. The key will be having more good days than not so good days through out the season....as shown with that first round loss to Perth.

Good win. Wardman won the battle of the textbook coaches…this time. Good strategy though, I couldn’t stand watching another game kicking it long straight down the freo defenders throats all day. Eaton was great, although thrashed by the freo giant, he’s getting better each week. Pity he wasn’t 5cm taller. Love to have him at chb or fb, be hard to beat there I recon. Would add some much needed height down there. Problem is we need him in the ruck. Some don’t have that problem, freo had another 7ft afl bloke in the magoos, had 50+ hit outs. Corbett is a classy recruit and I like Franceschini. Borchet’s form is a worry

While the WAFL website is rarely up to date, it shows that we have 3 players on the list, Hayden 2-4 weeks, Schoey the same and Braut as a test. Does anyone have any updates on that and did Gus get a suspension?
