I just attended the opening of the new version of Subiaco Oval. I like the landscaping. I like the attempt to preserve the history of the place. The amenities buildings look a bit weird to me.

But what really bothers me is that Subiaco football club is hardly represented any more than they other wafl and afl clubs and less than women's footy. I'm ok with the prominence of Aboriginal footballing history, since it has been so significant and telling, but the oval was built to provide a home for Subi.

The history section is desperately missing some pictures of Subi supporters or scenes from training at the ground, or 1986.

I don't want to be too
critical. I really appreciate the emphasis on history in the new landscaping, including in the pavement around they oval. At least the 1973 team and Peter featherby get a run.

The changerooms look a bit grim because they're vandal and theft proof. A sad commentary on our times. But needs must I suppose.

On women, if the council wanted to accurately represent women and their experiences at Subi oval, they should portray their role in the Subi footy club and as Subi supporters- women like my
grandmother who went to 100s of Subi games with her Thermos and rug.

Disappointing Johnny, but hardly surprising in this very woke world we now have. How does women's AFL even fit into Subiaco oval. The majority of the story should be WAFL grand finals and Subiaco’s history at the ground.

They do have some great photos of women's footy from the old days, but the Aflw stuff is over represented.

Womens club footy has been around for a long time but I dont think there was ever an official AFLW game ever played at Subi, the joint was demo'd years before it eventuated, so in that case it's a bit out of order to have any mention of it. Should be just about competitions that actually played at Subi. Agree JL, if there's not a significant special section just for the SFC, then they have no respect for the club that was based there for over 100 years. Very surprised at the Subi Council, but like most other metro councils they are ruled by wokes and trans tree huggers.

They built a new stand over the old seating, and a new club house and change rooms are on the way, great lights - any chance WAFL could return?

As far as I am concerned and history of the place should of had Subiaco FC front and Centre, followed by its WANFL Finals history anything else after that is just woke window dressing and a misrepresentation of the history of the place.

It would be a bit like having a history display of Wembley Stadium, having a huge display on womens soccer and no mention of the FA Cup Finals played there...ludicrous.

Baz I think most of that is for the adjacent High School named after that piss drinking womanizing egomaniacal unionist.

As you can see, some good stuff here, but light on for Subi footy club.
