Very difficult to watch the game - not entirely sure Subiaco were ever in it and they had just too many players hardly sighted or with very little output
and when that happens against a side with more than half AFL , it's all over

Disappointing end to a pretty good season, 3rd place not bad and surprised me. Will lose Heal, Tholstrup and Kentfield at least, really we finished the year at almost full strength, apart from Hayden

Sounded like Subiaco were flat this afternoon and never really got going. Having said that - they've had a great season and were not expected to feature in the finals earlier in the year. Here is hoping all the best to East Fremantle next week.

A brave effort, as always. They knew they had to find a way to take a mark up front and they just couldn't. Should Mayo have been tried? Alone was quiet most of the game . Kitch had a good game. The big game brought the best out of him.

Gee Schofield looked good at times.
But they eye just too tall and strong.

Kicking straight would have helped. Not giving away soft free kicks at crucial times would have helped. And attacking down the grandstand side would also have helped.

Good season. Go sharks.

We were our own worst enemy at times: second to the ball; bad kicking in terms of distance and accuracy, players need to be able to kick fifty metres on goal at training, otherwise reserves; kicking to contests where Peel has the numbers is a football stupidism; other options: kicking for space, bouncing the ball and taking on the Peel player would be better.

Third is not acceptable nor is losing two finals.

We were undone by the same issue which has plagued us all year and that is transitioning the ball into our forward 50.

Continually kicking long bombs just doesn't work as the opposition can set up every time to have numbers around the pack. Time and time again we turned it over with FART taking countless intercept marks. I put it down to coaching staff and senior players not taking ownership on the field.

As others have said, it was a pretty good effort to finish third and gives us an excellent launch pad for next year but we badly need to work on our forward structures in the offseason as 52 inside 50s for 18 scores is not a great return.

I give FART a real sniff next week if you'll excuse the pun as East Freo have played only one game in 3 weeks which might not be an ideal preparation but for all the traditional WAFL supporters, I truly hope the Sharks get up and by a big margin

couple of things
Wardman could have moved Mayo to CHF to disrupt those 3 AFL guys who were set up across half back to stop all attacks dead
either him or Braut would have kept one or two of those busy
Subiaco got bullied into going across the ground instead of taking it straighter

In fairness to the mids there was just no movement from the forwards a lot of times

What wrong with fast leading and stab passing? These are very accurate kicks which could be employed all the way up the ground. Again, Lions go back and practice them at training.

Disappointing finish to what, in hindsight was a pretty good season, given few had us making finals pre-season.
Our game plan does not stand up for finals footy, especially against a midfield and backline loaded with fulltime pro's. It appears that we have no set structure or plan for the forwards and how it should be delivered to them, whoever is our forward coach should be shown the door immediately and Wardman needs a rocket for that aspect of his coaching. The backs did a good job against massive odds, so that sector is in good shape.

There will be a few experienced players hanging up the boots, Heal is a certainty, i'm reliably advised that Zac Clarke is very unlikely to continue, apparently Zac nearly pulled the pin after 4 or 5 games but got some new treatment for his dodgy knees and managed to play out the season, it just makes his superb season even more meritorious. Kicth is a maybe, will depend on the possible return of mids like Greg Clarke and Hayden, plus possibly Foley and Menagola. Foley would be a good swap for Heal, but the priority must be a quality ruckman, must be 203/204 and 100+ kegs to compete with the best WAFL rucks.

As for the pre-lim, as I said, the forward line was disfunctional, the lack movement and spread and leading was obvious and the continuous bombing it long into the 50 played into their big defenders hands literally, Hamling and the other big defender had 9 intercept marks each which is crazy, we made it so easy for them to rebound. Sok was struggling, apparently he's been have shots in his ankle before and at halftime for the last 4 or 5 games, while he's a terrific player, do you go in with injured players? Kitch was superb, as was Locks who looked right back at his best, Schoey flashed in and out of the game but did some quality stuff, L. Hickmot tried his guts out, but too many were down on form and lacked the intensity of the semi final. It was confusing to see that there were few if any changes at halftime when the writing was well and truly on the wall. I would have thrown Mayo into CHF, he was going ok and can actually take a mark, plus the fact that either the coach failed to see that our forward line was hopeless and that the delivery was just as bad, or the players were just not listening. Anyway rant over, beaten by a far better team on the day and good luck to EF next week, you are really going to need it as Freo are on a real roll.
