Most of that history is correct GTR but they actually played out of Charles Veryard in North Perth between 1974 to 1999 before they were forced to vacate, and head up North to Joondalup.

Thanks for clarifying your comments RL.It seems you weren’t against the move per se just the name change.Don’t want to hijack the topic because this name discussion has been gone over many times but I see it as a transitional thing in that the “Joondalup “ tag will be added at some time in the future and then eventually used exclusively. It is just a question of timing.I think it is too early to cut our ties with the WP link simply because we have too many current supporters who associate with that brand.Yes we should incorporate with the district we play out of and as has been mentioned before the WP/Joondalup FC makes sense.I don’t see that happening for a while though.Eventually when the current generation of supporters is no longer with us there probably will be a move to be the Joondalup FC.Who knows. If it happens I only know that the JFC didn’t win the premierships in a rich history of over 100 years.
Sorry to go on and go off topic. It’s just replying to a good point from RL.But back to the game and really looking forward to probably the best Perth derby for a long time.So many side issues with the game - EP need to win for a good ladder position,WP need to win to have any hope of finals(with a little help from it’s friends),possibly DH’s last stand, maybe last games(due to retirement) for some players and maybe more.Should be a ripper and good luck to both sides (but come on the Falcons of course!).

West Perth Football Club trading as the Joondalup Falcons. Footscray did similar, they are still the Footscray FC but trading as the Western Bulldogs. That should keep everyone happy.
Oh and for 2 weeks in a row I'll be hoping the Fowlcoons have a win :-)

Fed and RL, the club did extensive research into the name change and you will remember we were Joondalup in print media for a season or two and it didn't bring us any gains in the sponsorship dept so we decided we weren't going to change the name if no support was coming from local business and I agree with that decision. Even today the local Business Community dont put out !

Good win and finish to the season with 6 straight wins and momentum into next season. The cream on top was beating RL's Ferals and relegating them to 4th where they won't win their first legitimate flag since 78 :)

That’s alright Whinnen, that’s still 3 years more recently than your clubs last legitimate flag your club won in 1975 when Graham Campbell was your coach,by the way did you get your cedar mothballs from red dot??

third quarter was a bastard, we kicked the first three and the ferals came back with eight unanswered. feel sorry for them relegated to forth so they can be eliminated by the hand baggers. you would think a team would fight to ensure a win to hold third place but no, a manufactured team does not have heart / spirit / passion and you cannot buy a grand final. you have been trying for years to buy a grand final to no avail. west have consistenly been in the finals and its time for the west lads to have a rest, take stock for next season, look back on their sucsess for history is great foundation for the future and the poor old ferals will be stuck in 1978. poor bastards, i feel sorry for them, my heart bleeds.

Why does your heart bleed for us Salvatore??the last time i looked your season ended today and we have a finals game to play next week so I’m not really sure why we would be upset. Also Salvatore I know it was traumatic day for you when your defacto Joondalup West Perth falcon club got slaughtered in front of 31500 witnesses in 2002 ,the biggest Grand Final crowd this century,so i can understand how your trying to block it out of your mind, which is a common theme of traumatised people. I can tell you I personally had a great day, especially the return back to your “spiritual ground”where I swear I could feel the crunching of “Old Garlic Cloves”below my beer stained sandshoes, and commented to a fellow Royal if you reversed the situation and have our club  consigned to Northern woop woop, and the Garlics knocking us off and returning to Perth Oval to celebrate,I would detour around Lord and Bulwer st for the rest of my life.so if it’s helping you cope, stay in denial Salvatore as denial has and always will be your clubs favourite default position.
