Great to see Hunter return with 4. But having missed 2 seasons it is too soon to put him in the league team. That said, can we play HQ after a 2 possession game? We played Sinkers forward a couple of years back. I’d try that again, with Avery playing the intercept role down back. Jackson and Cooley had good numbers in the reserves.

I haven’t heard that messaging coming from anyone in the club Ted. Unless I missed it.

I did hear German say that our second halves last year were not great and we fell away badly.

I liked that we took the game on and tried to get the ball forward which provided opportunities for shots on goal in the first quarter. After that Subiaco worked us out a bit and I felt that while he still tried this attacking approach we often went for one or two extra handballs that weren’t needed and by doing this put our own players under pressure and then resulted in a stoppage or a rushed kick which was marked by a Subiaco player. I thought Stubbs was well held as well.

We looked fantastic in the first quarter.

Our new recruits were superb - particularly Thompson and Barwick and Kane Johnston (mark of the year).

I was worried Sinclair would be rusty but he was great.

Byrne and McPartland back in form after patchy preseason form from Byrne and patchy 2022 season form McPartland.

Sing as someone said somewhere spoils beautifully.

Harry has been very poor the last two weeks. He did get some kind of knock though.

Spoke to Sinners after. He said James Ewing was lined up all year to be our CHB. A real shame he went down last week. A bloody important position.

Colts football very reliant on what’s happening in the PSA. As we are in School holidays PSA boys all available to play. A very good result yesterday.

The thinking seems to be leave the Colts playing Colts now days. I tend to agree. Their 75 kilo weight can’t compete with the 90 kilo league boys and it’s a quick way to get injured.

Be nice to have a write up in the West like every other game. 8pm finish too late for them?

Anyone know anything about AJ?
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

A lot to like about the first half. Stopped the run and take the the game on after half time. Seems they were running on empty.

AJ is 6 weeks away I heard. I thought we did well to be in the game at 3 qtr time but I already felt we didn't have much left in the tank. Rome wasn't built in a day as they say.

Just watched the replay. Oh to have a full forward like Sokol.

We have a very good prospect in Jaiden Hunter and he is much taller and quite agile.
After 2 years of injury layoff we need to nurture him.
Looked very good in the ressies.

Our football in the first quarter looked very good.
Peter German said it a while ago.
It is not an instant fix and will take time.
He is introducing a style of play which is foreign to our club.
It will take some time before we are able adapt to it and run all day.
For me there were some good signs.
Including the form of the Colts.
The style of play will become the "Club style".
I can see why he recruited the ES boys.
I think they will all adapt to WAFL.
Charlie looks to be a jet.
Had about 6 more possessions than Kitchin (23/17).
Harry needs a kick up the arse, what a waste as he does have talent.
So lazy.
I hope the coach can turn him around.
The improvement in Two Dads is mind blowing.
Although he could do with a handy back up.
Not sure the HO tally was that bad.
Although Clarke will always get the numbers as well as the free kicks.
And Bird and Martin are becoming handy.

Thought your guys were terrific in the 1st qtr, really jumped us with pace and fast ball movement and good marking options up forward. Attractive attacking footy. Whatever Wardman said at 1/4 time turned things around, mainly more intensity and pressure on your ball carriers meant the delivery into your forwards was not as good as in the 1st allowing the Subi halfbacks to dominate. Second half was an arm wrestle but Subi had a bit more finesse and Sokol to finish. Lot to like about the D's, seem to be heading in the right direction. Good crowd a well, very enjoyable night at the footy.
